And so the critically obese lady has sung, the UK Pro Tour is a wrap for another season and there's a lot of happy people that will be partying into the night at the awards party. So what of today?

Newquay...

Yes this is a man going for a surf on a finless single-fin that's aged and brown like a hard old turd. And yes he is wearing trainers. At least he has his wetsuit on the right way round... So what of the UK Pro Tour event today?

The UK Pro Decider Looms...

So dear friends to Newquay this weekend for the end of the credit crunched UK Pro Tour. Staggering into town like a punch drunk Russian boxer. The tour might have had it's oft admired and much missed Triple Crown decapitated this year (boo! hiss! we love that week! as does everyone!) but we still have the end of year ding-dong sponsored by those lovely Animals (them with the event ad over there >>>).

Tuk Tuk Tales...

If you look at a map of the Indian Ocean Sri Lanka is the chunk that looks like it’s just been pooped out the arse end of India. It’s home to elephants, tea plantations, crazy bus drivers, three wheeled taxis powered by hairdryer motors known as ‘tuk tuks’ and until very recently a very messy civil war. The Tamil Tigers have waged a campaign for a separatist state in the north east of the country for over thirty years inventing along the way the suicide bomber belt and making good use of women and children to further their cause. Chuck in a bit of ethnic cleansing of the Muslims from Tamil areas and you can see why the whole country celebrated when the war was declared over on the 17th of May this year (shortly followed by the death of the Tamils leadership cadre on the 19th, so I guess they were still doing some mopping up with their rocket launchers).

Back In Town...

Sorry for lack of posts in the last week or so, the anticipated "wifi" and "good internet connection" in Sri Lanka's Aragum Bay didn't materialise. And with O2 charging £6 a MB on the iPhone when in non-european international areas it was a bit of a mare... So. Plan is thus- I'll just post what I was going to post a week or two late. So we left on a weds I'll post from then. In brief it was a good trip with plenty of amusing moments and a lot of wildlife. When people describe an area as a 'zoo' they really can only say that in Sri Lanka... Elephants, monkeys, scorpions, snakes, bats, jellyfish and more. Honorary Geordie Saffa and Pipe ledge' Richie Sills won the UK Pro Tour event and I've got a good few gigs of photos to sort out... Plenty of stuff in the pipe people- jetlag be damned.

I'm Not Dead...

In Sri Lanka, not found any Internet access yet, waves are v average! Have seen elephants and monkeys. Doing this from my phone so prob cost me a fiver...

GUL Night Surf...

Only got a tiny bit of battery on the 'pute and have to get a wriggle on so will update more later... It was a great event, plenty of decent surf and some real progressive surfing. Check a few sequences after the jump...

UK Pro Tour Stuff...

The Gul Night Surf Event takes place this weekend with check in at Fistral from 1.00pm for Open, Longboard and Women. The juniors will be in on Sunday from 8.00am. The forecast isn't looking too shabby. In other tour news Rip Curl have just announced a mini womens series tied in with their girls surfing days. First up 28th of June at Bournemouth at the new reef (fingers crossed it finished!) with Steph Gilmore in attendance. 26th of July @ Croyde and 28/29th @ Porthmeor in St Ives. The winner of the three events will come away with a £1000 prize and 2* event points for the UK tour... which is pretty cool.

Micro Is The Big Cheese @ Croyde...

Glenn Hall has won the Croyde UK Pro Tour stop today, beating Stoker, Russ and Matty C in the final. In the womens comeback kid Gwendolen 'Doris' Spurlock continues her rebound from serious injury with a second place in the Womens behind Sarah Beardmore (who she? anyone know???).
