There are few 16-year old girls that have as many air-miles notched up as Tassington B Swallows. She’s been to: Hawaii, New Zealand, Maldives, Bali, California, Dominican Republic, most of Europe and Morocco. All in the simple pursuit of one thing- to learn to surf real good (that and avoiding school as much as possible.)

Did a trip for SurfGirl mag back just before the ash cloud shut down Europe's air space to the Algarve. Was a reet larf. We stayed with the awesome SurfExperience guys in Lagos who make your lunch, drive you round in Landy's (darn useful cos alot of spots you'd never get to in a rental motor) and run a sick surf lodge. Joel Gray, him of Surf Solutions was doing coaching with Beth Mason, Gabi Rowe, Shauna Ward, Laura Crane and Nicole Morgan and muggins here was there to shoot a feature for the end of May issue. I also played with me Canon 7D's video and made this-

Forgive me for the blatantly search engine friendly title but it does some up the following clip to a tee. Alana Blanchard and Laura Enever look hot, surf good and the Telo Islands look pretty darn sweet too. Considering we are about to be whupped by a 70mph winter storm in the UK it might take your mind off the maelstrom outside... Clip after the jump-

HellYeah is an unusual name, where the hell does it come from? You may think ‘Hell Yeah’ comes from WWE wrestler Stone Cold Steve Austin, but no, in fact I just inherited it from my father, Hellyer, and Hell Yeah just caught on in the school playground…
And it's Sophie with an 'ie'. Not a 'y'. Why?Sophie with an ‘ie’ not a ‘y’ ? I don't know, because my parents weren’t lazy and could spell properly? Now that’s a silly question Sharpie.

A trip from February which has never seen the light of day in the surf mags... So here it is in interweb form... Pics here.
In which our heroines- Bethanwy Mason, Gwendolen Spurlock and Anastasia Swallow head Stateside to traverse the Golden State from north to south in search of waves, good times, ice-fuelled mentalists, celeb’s and the perfect breakfast pancake… (Whilst also attempting to turn one previously sane surf photographer completely doo-lally through the sickening mental torture of Lady GaGa on infinite repeat).
Things didn’t start well. I’d got on a plane in the tropical heat of Bali at the end of January and got off in a London that was battening down the hatches for a serious winter storm. ‘No problem,’ think I, ‘we don’t get proper snow anymore!’ I was wrong- three days of public transport free, snowy, house arrest and many flight cancellations later I was en route to Heathrow unsure if we’d be going to California at all…

Some call it luck, others call it fate; if you have eastern leanings then you might describe it as Karma. Whatever you call it, it all comes down to probability- the mathematical chance that really good things or terribly bad things are going to happen. Most people live a vanilla life- they go from cradle to the grave bothering no one, achieving nothing much, it’s all just a bit beige, the universe doesn’t bother them much. Other people achieve: they may achieve greatness, they may perpetrate great evil or they may spend the whole lives helping other people. It doesn’t seem to matter which way you make a difference in life, probability doesn’t care, good things happen to bad people and vice versa…
