Newquay gets all the press but you live in lovely St Ives, good waves, Levy's not far and the towns cool as, ever gonna leave?
Yeah I hate the fact that because I don't live in Newquay I can't easily hook up with photographers, and hence get as much coverage. But I do love St Ives and the crew here, for sure I will always come back here.
How do you handle St Ives in the summer? Parking is a nightmare.
It is pretty stupid taking a car into town in mid-summer, but we do have our little secret parking spots, getting to them is another matter, people just walk in front of you like it's not a road. Pretty funny sometimes.
Are there any other potential juniors coming out of St Ives? If not, why not?
There is, little Harry De Froth is up and coming at only 10-years old he's ripping it up, I'm pretty scared that in maybe 5-years he will be knocking me out of comp's.
Do you drop in on Tassy whenever possible? (Tassy Swallow St Ives well-travelled junior chick).
I never even see Tassy in the sea! I think she travels more than me.
Have you seen a seagull steal a tourists pastie?
Every day I witness a seagull stealing something, it's endless entertainment, except when it happens to me.
What do you think of the Tate?
Nice building but not to sure about the art inside it, a bit to modern for my liking, I go in like once every 2-years, in fact I think it's time I had another look.
You've done a couple of 6* WQS events this year and gone good, are you looking to go full time on the WQS at some point or are you still focusing on the pro juniors?
Well it's my last year in the pro juniors so next year I will be competing on the QS full time, I think, depending on how my new contract pans out with Rip Curl. It's a big step for me and I feel confused about what I should do... as it is stupidly hard.
Is getting on the WCT an ambition?
For sure I would love it to happen, I mean all it takes is a lucky year and bob's your uncle. Well probably takes a bit more than that, but I think it is possible so i'm definitely going to set it as one of my ambitions in life. Wether it happens or not, i'm not too bothered.
It's a pretty exciting time in British surfing with guys like you, Reubs and Toby coming up, why do you think the performance levels kicked up a notch?
It is, the standard is rising, in every country the standard raises every generation, we just watch new movies with all new crew busting out, and think, shit we have to raise our game. Reubyn has stepped it up another level and made me want to do the same.
So you've done trips with Tom Curren. Did he speak?
Yeah every now and then, funny chap, was amazing experience for me, I feel pretty lucky, to of gone on a couple of trips with him, and vaguely got to know him. He keeps himself to himself and does what he enjoys, I respect that.
How was Norway?
Pretty cool surfing in the Arctic Circle. It would of been an amazing trip if we scored good waves, it still was an unbelievable adventure in its self, but yeah we just didn't get the waves. The landscape was mental. I was overwhelmed.
Do those heated wetsuits actually work?
They do! I recommend it to all year round surfers, they're fantastic I used a 3mm at Thurso, in April, and I was sweating, they are pricey, but so worth the money. Get involved people.
Is your middle name Zee? Cos that would nearly be cool.
That would be cool, but no, its Davey.

Lakey Peak in Indo.
Where have you not been that you gotta go?
The Mentawais in Indo.
What did you think of Sri Lanka?
Hot, hot, hot, hot... Not my favourite place in the world.
What's the next few months got in store for JR?
Francais road trip with my amigos Billy Norways and Jack Whitefield, Relentless Boardmasters, then Canaries.
Is Megan Fox the hottest woman in the world right now?
I didn't know who she was, but I just googled her ass, and yeah pretty hot but not my type.
